Our Railway Visitor Centre is of special interest to all railway enthusiasts, history and heritage enthusiasts, schoolchildren and family groups. We are happy to accommodate group bookings.

As well as enjoying the meticulously restored station building and platform, visitors can learn all about the following:

  • The History of Belturbet Station during the Railway Age 1885-1959
  • The Great Northern Railway Company
  • The Narrow Gauge Cavan & Leitrim Railway Company
  • The People who worked at Belturbet Station
  • The Steamship Belturbet
  • The Arigna Tramway
  • The Rolling Stock
  • The Social & Economic Impact of the Railways

We have an interesting collection of railway memorabilia on display, including original tickets, timetables and documents and many special railway artefacts which have been given to us on permanent loan for our exhibition.

Our audiovisual show features original footage of the Cavan & Leitrim Railway. It also outlines the history of the restoration of Belturbet Station which began in 1995.

We plan to restore our collection of old rolling stock from a bygone era and put it on display to our visitors in our workshop.

We can provide on-site catering and refreshments for visitors. Extensive coach and car-parking is available on site.

Special group rates are available on request.
Opening hours: 09.00 a.m. - 17.00 hours daily – Monday - Friday.

Visit our station history page, which will show different parts of our display as the seasons change.
